Princeton is the birthplace of Collin County’s lucrative onion industry, and by 1940 was shipping 175 train-car loads of onions yearly. This booming industry helped put Princeton on the map and made the city the Onion Capital of Texas. To celebrate the onion industry, Princeton holds an annual Onion Festival that features fun for the entire family.
Other community events are hosted throughout the year, including a fall festival, Easter egg hunt, July Spectacular, and Christmas tree lighting.
